File Transfer Protocol explained and how to use FTP software.

What is FTP?

FTP refers both to an Internet protocol that permits file transfer and also to the name of software programs that allow you to upload and download files.

Ftp stands for File Transfer Protocol and you can upload or download files from a computer to a webhosting account using FTP software.

Depending on your needs, you can choose from an large array of FTP software programs or you can FTP directly from your Web browser with most hosting companies.

There are many free FTP programs that you can download and we recommend using either CUTE FTP or WS_FTP. Follow the links below to download sites and tutorials on how to use both of these FTP programs.
